Prayer

AN EASTER PRAYER
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the peace that Easter brings.
Help me to remain calm and steadfast, even amid life’s challenges.
May Your peace guide my thoughts and actions, and may I be a source of comfort to those around me.
Amen.
Principal's Message

Dear Friends and Families
Term One is over in the blink of an eye! It was a jam-packed Term with lots of learning and lots of fun!
This is just a short Newsletter to round up the Term and give you a few reminders of the Term ahead.
I wish you and your families a happy and safe holiday and a wonderful Easter.
See you in Term Two!
Leanne

School Closure in Week One
A reminder that there is no school for students in the week after the usual two week holiday break. Students will be having a THREE week holiday break due to two Public Holidays and three Staff Professional Learning Days.
School returns for students on Monday 28th April.
Long Service Leave
Gerard will be on long Service Leave for the first two weeks of Term Two (the school closure week and one week of classes).

Project Compassion
From the sale of icy poles in Term 1, we have raised $100 towards Caritas’ Project Compassion. It is a win-win, with the children enjoying the icy poles on a hot day and raising money for a good cause at the same time. Thanks everyone!

Easter Raffle
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Easter raffle. We can now say, we have officially raised $872 for our School from ticket sales. Thank you to Kaisercraft, Jack at Colac Cinemas and Queenie and Co for their donations. Also, thank you to the Cororooke General Store and Colac Area Health for selling tickets. Lastly a shout out to Kristy for the gorgeous baskets and also to Lynda, Liz and Grace for wrapping the prizes.
Congratulations to the following winners:

2nd Prize: Cooper Robb
3rd Prize: The Rock Family

Mothers Day Celebration
Our Mother’s Day celebration will be held on Thursday 8th May. This celebration is always a special one so be sure to pop it into your diaries. The children love to see their mums, grandmothers and significant others there.
Liturgy and celebrations will be held in the hall and will begin at 9.15am.
ALL WELCOME!
Enrolments
Please continue to spread the word that we are open for enrolments!

Writer's Notebook and Book Borrowing
I have had a number of students request that they take their Writer’s Notebooks home for the holidays. It is wonderful to see them so excited about creating their own special collections of writing so I am more than happy for them to work on them during the holidays.
I do ask that parents monitor the situations so that the children are taking care with their work and looking after the books. I would also suggest that they do no more than 10 pages. We do not have any spare books at school, so if the pages do fill up, parents will need to buy their children a new one before they come back to school. The children are excited about sticking pictures etc into their books. They may need reminders that adding pictures and doing drawings is fine, but it is a Writer’s notebook, so don’t forget the writing!
You can watch the following video for more information and ideas on Writer’s notebooks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Lhln1QzPU

Library Books
A reminder that Wednesday is Library borrowing day. Many children forgot to return their books last week. We are excited for children to be borrowing books again and request that you support us with ensuring that children return the books.
I hope you have enjoyed reading the books with your children. I have fond memories of reading to, and with, my children. Such special times!

School Photos
School Photos will be taken on Wednesday 7th May. We request that children are in full summer uniform for this day. We will not be wearing jumpers for the photos.
It is a sports day, so children are welcome to change into their sports uniform after the photos or just bring their runners to change into after the photos.
Fundraising and community Event
Many of our parents have been busy working on a fundraising event for Term Two.
Please Note that, due to the Cororooke Hall being used for the Federal Election, the event will now be held in the school hall.
Movie and Soup Night: Friday 2nd May
Social Media
A reminder that you can follow us on the following social media platforms to stay up to date with all of the happenings in our vibrant school community.

School Attendance and Absentee Notification
Please ensure you are logging onto PAM, calling or emailing the school to advise if your child will be away or late to school prior to 9:30am each morning. This is a very important matter and we wish to ensure each child arrives to school safe.
Please remember students are not permitted to leave school unless permission has been granted. In these circumstances, the student needs to be signed out in the register at the Office. Thank you for your support in all these school matters.
